A Church with a Heart for our Community

January 13th 2021 Wednesday

Greetings to you, fellow-adventurers, in the wonderful name of Heaven’s Champion, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! I declare by faith and on the authority of God’s Word – “This is the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!”  You may not believe this…but, just beyond those clouds and dreary skies the sun is shining! You may not believe this either…just beyond our cares and concerns and challenges God’s love and blessings are in full operation. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to reveal himself to you in ways that you will understand so that you can respond to Him…may He give you strength for the day…may He release hope, peace, and joy to you.

This morning one of the verses in my devotions caught my attention…The Word became flesh and dwelt among us…and we have beheld his glory – John 1:14. I was imagining what it must have been like to “see” Jesus’ glory, His shekinah. I found my thoughts  changing gears and I heard the words of a chorus we sing often…Open the eyes of my heart, I want to “see” Jesus and I remembered times of worship a when that truly expressed what was on my heart. However this morning I felt that I wanted to adjust the words so that I could sing…The eyes of my heart are open, I need to see Jesus! There is so much going on in our world and our circumstances…I need to see Jesus!

I was reminded of the words of a hymn…“I must tell Jesus” and I thought that I would like to do that face to face, and again a song came into my thoughts…”O disclose Thy lovely face”. The truth of the matter is that although I want to see Jesus…there are times when I NEED to see Jesus – it is not a matter of desire but of necessity. Perhaps to clarify, there is not a day goes by that I don’t need to see Jesus…not a day that I don’t need Holy Spirit…not a day that I don’t need a fresh word from God. However, some days I have a “want” and some days I have a “need”.

I am reminded of what Jesus means to me on a daily basis…Jesus is: the Bread of Life – the Living Water – the Good Shepherd – the Rock – the Redeemer – the Savior and Lord – the Way/Truth/Life – the Light of the World – the Deliverer – the Peace – the Beginning and the End – the Mighty Warrior – and so much more.

I am so grateful this morning that Jesus is available when I want Him and when I need Him – something to ponder – be blessed!
