A Church with a Heart for our Community

January 10th Friday

Greetings to you in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! I need your help…repeat after me at least three times: “This is the day that the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Now isn’t that the way to enjoy  today in the Kingdom? I trust that you have had a good week and have had a few blessings – divine encounters – divine interruptions – special moments that you are still savouring.  I hope you are excited about gathering with the church family this Sunday to worship and fellowship. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release “signs-wonders-miracles” in your life  over the next few days…starting with today!

This year I have discovered a book in the Bible that I have really overlooked, and the main reason was that I didn’t understand it and it seemed rather strange so I left it alone. However, the “Song of Songs” or the Song of Solomon has come alive for me. I suppose I must thank the Passion Translation and it’s author, Brian Simmonds  for presenting it in a format…with an insightful introduction and  lots of footnotes. I suppose I have read it through at least four times this past year and each time my heart is stirred as the intimate relationship made available to us with Jesus is revealed.

So I was truly excited when a new devotional book was released in January called “the Divine Romance – 365 Days Mediating on the Song of Songs.” My wife and fellow-adventurer and I have both been reading it and enjoying the simplicity and rhythm of each day’s reading. It so happens that today’s reading was especially meaningful and I want to share the verse that was quoted and the prayer that was written:

Draw me into your heart and lead me out. We will run away together into the king’s cloud-filled chamber. The Chorus of Friends. We will remember your love, rejoicing and delighting in you, celebrating your every kiss as better than wine. No wonder righteousness adores you! – Song of Songs 1:4  TPT.

Prayer: God, draw me into your heart–into a life of continuous encounters with your tangible love. Lift me out of complacency and set my heart ablaze for you. Take me from one glorious experience to the next and open your Word to me with fresh revelation. Let me see the world through the reality of perfect love.

Have a good weekend…seek His face…be blessed!
