A Church with a Heart for our Community

February 5th Thursday

Greetings in the name of our “Hiding Place”…and in the name of Jesus Christ – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour! What a beautiful morning! The sun is sparkling on the snow, the sky is blue, and the air is crisp…it has to be a day that God has made! I trust that in the midst of ‘life’ this week – with the myriad of events and challenges, that you have been able to find perspective and protection in the “Hiding Place.” Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to touch your heart with the beauty of His holiness!

This has been a learning week for me. God has been leading me by way of insights from Scripture and by using quotations from Christian minds to make me think. Sometimes, it seems, that God wants me to simply be taught a lesson I can pick up and take with me…kind of like ‘fast food’. While at other times He gives me the ingredients and I have to work it out…sort of like “Chopped” – you have to watch Food Network on television to know what this means.

Have you noticed that God sometimes is comfortable to explain and share truths about with a friend…like His love and grace and mercy and miracle work? However, at other times God seems rather difficult to explain, like when He exerts justice and discipline and permits horrific events to unfold…and sometimes, as we read the Bible, He is the instigator of punishment and wars. Even in our own lives, when we try to ‘re-purpose His purposes’ He loses some of His identity. Anyway, as I was pondering…I like to ponder…I happened, by coincidence or accident or something like that – a quote that I would like to share with you. When I do that we can both ponder. Here is the quote: “Yes, God is dangerous. He’s not a house cat; he’s a lion. You’re free to deny his existence or pretend he’s harmless. Go ahead and pet him if you’d like; just don’t expect to get your arm back” Drew Dyck, ‘Yawning At Tigers’.

The Psalmist says: “Bow down to the Eternal, adorned in holiness; lay awestruck before Him, trembling, all the people of the earth” Psalm 96:9  The Voice. The apostle, Paul, declares: So when His name is called, every knee will bow, in heaven, on earth, and below and every tongue will confess, “Jesus, the Anointed One, is Lord,” to the glory of God our Father! Philippians 2:10-11 The Voice.I have a belief that God has been telling me that it is not my responsibility to explain His thoughts and ways…just worship and honour and give Him the glory!

Be blessed!
