A Church with a Heart for our Community

December 1st Thursday

Greetings to you in the name of the One who was sent from the Father to invite those who would believe in Him into everlasting life, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Happy December 1st! — and a lovely day it is in the Kingdom as temperatures become more seasonal. I trust that you are enjoying the joy of being alive and accepting the measure of health and strength that God has given you. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to surprise you with a visit from someone close or a word of encouragement or a refreshing retreat in His presence.Ah! I learned a new phrase – ‘sometimes I learn a lot from a conversation I was never intended to hear’. I like it! and it seems to be happening a lot. I think that during the Christmas season people like to talk about their lives and family and activities to anyone who will listen.

And for those of us who follow the way of the Christ – we are called to be listeners, to be people who are carriers of the Presence, the Light that came out of darkness. We are also challenged to ask a question that is so important — we know for ourselves that the things that matter most in life, what we are striving for in our busyness – stability, peace, hope, love – are rooted in the health of the ‘inside you’! So the question we get to ask – “How is your soul?” … and it is a powerful question. I have a sense that it is a question we need to ask ourselves as often as is necessary…and we need to have an answer. Remember the old song that puts it this way…‘Tell me the old, old story-When you have cause to fear-That this world’s empty glory-Is costing me too dear’…’Tell me the old, old story-Of Jesus and His love’.

Be blessed !
