A Church with a Heart for our Community

August 29th Thursday

Greetings to you in the wonderful, amazing, powerful, and beautiful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Another lovely late summer day in the Kingdom…and so we must begin with a big -“THANK YOU – GOD!” I know that God is good all the time but some days…He is even better! I trust that are enjoying your life-journey today – receiving: His strength as you need it, His guidance as you ask for it, His overflow for your hunger and thirst, and the security of His love in abundant measure. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to “speak to you” in ways that will encourage and challenge.

I was reading that when He prayed, Jesus often paused for a moment and looked-up to heaven before he began. I know that it seems a rather inconsequential comment but if 2 Timothy 3:16 is correct…and I believe it is, then there is a certain significance to ‘looking-uo’ as you begin to pray. So I noted during a day how many times – I looked-up to heaven and why. The one thing that struck me was that when I was stepping out in a direction, I often gave a quick look around me just to acquaint myself with where I was and what direction I was heading.

I wonder if that was what Jesus was doing … making sure He had his positioning correct and that He had the Father’s attention and that He was moving in a supernatural flow of power. I remind myself that the gospels record the activities and behaviour of Jesus as the son of “man” – it is so easy to forget that He faced life’s challenges in a human way. According to Hebrews 4:14-16, Jesus understands our humanity…our reality, so I am sure that He looked to heaven…often…to receive the mercy He needed and to be assured of His Father’s presence.

Therefore next time I am aware that I am looking heavenward, as well as around me, I’ll know that I am being a little Christ-like in a very practical way…and I think that is “cool”.

Have a great day – be blessed!
