Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ! I trust that you have had a good week and that you sensed God’s grace and mercy as you travelled through your days. The weather man predicts a grand weekend to close out the month of August…so enjoy! I will be praying for you today, asking Father to allow you to hear him rejoicing over you and singing songs of affirmation to your heart.
This morning I want to share a word of direction from God. He gave me this word a few weeks ago and He keeps reminding me to share it with others, so here it is: Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. Isaiah 54:2 NIV…Clear lots of ground for your tents! Make your tents large. Spread out! Think big! Use plenty of rope, drive the tent pegs deep. Isaiah 54:2 The Message. I am not exactly sure why God keeps giving me this verse, but I have a few ideas. First, it is part of prophetic message to Israel, and so I believe it is the same to us. We are being alerted to something that is going to happen where we live..”tents.” The “something” is bigger than we can manage with our limited capacity so we need to be ready to expand our routines, our place where we are most at home.
Second, we are to think with open minds, ready to accept ideas…stretch the curtains wide…that part of your thinking that has been closed to new things, new methods, and new understanding. Perhaps, it means to be vulnerable, to be honest and open about what fears and doubts you have.
Third, we are to open our hearts and love in bigger ways…do not hold back….be more inclusive in your relationships, trust people, let people love you, let love be expressive and expansive, listen to what people are not saying, and be available.
Fourth, we are to guard our health, stamina, and inner resources…lengthen your cords…so that you don’t over-extend yourself, so that you can make a lasting impact, and so that you can finish well.
Fifth, we are to keep on meeting with fellow-believers for prayer and worship and sharing words of testimony…strengthen your stakes…and do not neglect our personal relationship with God and the Bible and personal prayer-worship.
This is something to ‘ponder’ — have a weekend of blessings!
