A Church with a Heart for our Community

August 27th Thursday

Greetings to you – the apple of God’s eye – in the wonderful. beautiful, and powerful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Another lovely,, sunny morning has been given to us to be glad in and to celebrate as we recognize that our Lord made it for us! These are such interesting days…and whether we like it or not, we are learning life lessons, growing stronger in our faith, and changing. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to bless you with health, strength, and a happy heart…and reveal to you how well you are doing as you “change” to accept a new normal.

One of the things that God has been teaching me is the importance of growing in the area of intimacy as it is expressed in our relationship with Him. Recently in one of my devotional readings God used some questions posed by the writer to provoke a little soul-searching. It can be too easy when we are rushing through our schedule to respond to God superficially, but when you have time to dwell in his presence the response changes.

First question[s] that I came across…How would you describe your faith? Is it a set of beliefs you hold dear? A moral code you are trying to live by? The hope of salvation? Or is it an exciting, daily, intimate walk with God? How would you respond…how would you like to respond? The season we are in has revealed an awareness of something missing in our faith.

Second question, Look at how you pray–is it formal? Or is it the ease of a daughter or son who knows they are loved?  What are thinking about when you come to prayer? Are you looking at the problem at hand, or at Jesus? What would help you “fix your eyes on Jesus”? Again, I know what I would like my response to be…and I think the response to question one probably affects the response to question two.

I am grateful that during this time of discovering a new normal gives the opportunity to get out of an old normal that, in truth was needing to be left behind.

Something to ponder…have a blessed day!
