A Church with a Heart for our Community

August 23rd Friday

Greetings to you in the wonderful name Of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful late summer morning! On my way in this morning there is this sign in front of a local business – “If you can’t stand the heat…it is only 18 1/2 weeks until Christmas!” I am so glad that there is a God in heaven who is in charge and He has all things planned with divine creativity! I trust that you have had a good week and have enjoyed a few blessings. I pray that you are anticipating a great weekend…especially gathering with your Christian family to celebrate your faith. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to release healing and strength and restoration and hope into your being…may He “re-ignite” you!

The worship conference…Sing 2019…is over and I was able to enjoy watching and learning – lots of music and good teaching. Even as the last session was taking place, the hosts were talking about the schedule for next year’s – Sing 2020. In fact they were even selling tickets for it. Can you imagine 10,000 musicians, pastors, ministry leaders, and attendees from 50+ nations gathering to focus on the ministry of worship music and creative arts.

One highlight for me was  a Concert Master Violinist who played withe the Philadelphia Symphony – David Kim. In an panel discussion he told how his mother had decided while he was still in the womb that he would be a master violinist….he received his first violin at age 3 and was attending the Julliard School in New York at age 8; he told of the demands and discipline of maintaining his creative gift as a man in his 50’s. He, of course, performed several times and was amazing.

There was pastor who was a ‘rapper’ – hip-hop musician, songwriter who shared his vision and how God was using him. There was a sculptor-painter from northern Ireland who shared how he interprets beauty to proclaim God’s message. There an Oxford mathematics professor who explained how 1 +1 doesn’t really equal 2 and how the arguments from the world of science do not make sense. One speaker  shared the style and shape of Sunday worship at his church…and oddly enough it was somewhat like what we do. Anyway, it was a grand conference.

And then there is today, new release Friday and there really aren’t any new ‘cd’s’ to catch my attention today, I was introduced to two new ‘cd’s’ from a week or two ago – artists who were at the worship conference…so we will see what happens. I think that in days to come we need a ‘worship night’ or two so that some ‘exploring’ can take place.

One of the lessons of this week for me, is that God can meet you anywhere, at anytime, and in any manner He chooses…even when you weren’t expecting Him. He seems to know just what you need for encouragement and refreshment and equipping. I think that He might even do that for you!

Have a great weekend – be blessed!
