A Church with a Heart for our Community

April 28th Friday

Greetings to you in the name of the One who is the same yesterday and today and forever, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a delightful morning in the Kingdom – another one of those ‘given days’! I trust that you have had a good week enjoying all that God did for you and how He took care of you. I am believing that you are excited about the coming weekend and all the surprises that are coming your way. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to stir up a ‘hunger and thirst’ for His presence to be revealed when His children get together in His house on His day – oh my! what a time we’re going to have!

I was listening…well, sort of listening…to the radio yesterday and God decided to send me one of His “G-mails” through a song I wasn’t paying attention to. As I had not heard this song before there was a bit of searching to do. The song had a ‘tag line’ that seemed to be a man’s testimony to where he found himself at this point in his life. Life, it seems, had taken a bad turn and he was desperately looking for an escape. His words were: “You know, I haven’t always been this way – I’ve had my moments, days in the sun – Moments when I was second to none – Moments when I knew I did what I thought I couldn’t do …. Emerson Drive, Moments.

I am very aware that ‘moments’ are powerful…your life, your entire life, can change in a moment – for better or worse. In particular, I am thinking about those moments when there is this still small voice speaking to us from the inside out. In my experience I call this  – a moment of clarity, when God’s becomes very real and there is an opportunity for new life and new hope and new direction. The challenge is that a ‘moment of clarity’ almost always demands a faith response and that faith response is what moves us forward on our spiritual journey.

This is when ‘faith’ becomes our own kind of reality show. When we begin to move forward on our faith journey and start to gain ground there is a new ‘event’ taking place. Every molecule of ground that we ‘gain’ is one that the devil ‘loses’. Did you know that the devil does not like to lose anything…and he really starts to fight back? No wonder that there are specific directions given to us for wearing protective gear – spiritual armour – and that we are given an encrypted communications network for staying in touch with command central – prayer. Perhaps our greatest resource on a day-to-day basis – amazing grace for this amazing race.

I know, I know – I am getting carried away, but … You know, I haven’t always been this way – I’ve had my moments…. and to quote another song – “I’m a wonder unto many – God alone the change has wrought – Here I raise my Ebenezer – Hither by his hand I’m brought!

Have a great weekend – be blessed!
