A Church with a Heart for our Community

April 26th Wednesday

Greetings to you in the name of the One who desires a relationship with you and provided the way through Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! I trust you had a good weekend and that the week had a great start. It is a beautiful day in the Kingdom and early this morning I heard the red-wing blackbird singing his praise to God. As this is the last week of April it will be important to clear the ‘to do list’ and prepare for the merry month of May. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to give you an extra shot of energy and a splash of discipline.

This week we started a new Bible study and I think we are going to learn a few important things to enhance our spiritual growth, plus I think we are going to enjoy ourselves at the same time. As I was doing some pre-lesson preparation I was introduced to anew book called: Reading the Bible Supernaturally.  Oddly enough, I think that is what our study is going to be like…a supernatural experience whereby our eyes will be opened to see the glory of the living God.

I base this comment on the first verses of John’s epistle: That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched-this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. This life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it … we proclaim to you what we have seen and heard… 1 John 1:1,2,3a. John was the last of the disciples to be able to share firsthand revelation, so it is rather exciting and supernatural. I am looking forward to a great time exploring this book with my fellow-adventurers.

I have a plan when I read Scripture and it is best described by the words of an old hymn….of course, you say, it has to relate to a song of some sort. The words of the hymn go like this: Break thou the bread of life – O Lord, to me – As thou didst break the loaves – Beside the sea – Beyond the sacred page – I seek thee, Lord – My spirit pants for thee – O living Word! … Mary Artemisia Lathbury. Yes, beyond the words I read, I seek Jesus…the Word of life and He promised me two things that I hold close to my heart…first, seek and you shall find – seek me and you will find me ; second, draw close to me and I will draw close to you.

If those promise declarations are true, and I believe they are, then every time I open the Bible and begin to read I enter into a ‘supernatural’ experience with God. Of course, if that is true for me, then it is true for you as well and then more we become aware of that the more supernatural it becomes. Now there is something to ponder today!

Be blessed!
