A Church with a Heart for our Community

April 10th Friday

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour! I trust that this has been a blessed week for you and that God ‘showed up’ at unexpected times’ and in ‘unexpected places’ … He actually specializes in doing so! I believe that we are going to have a great weekend, that God is going to bless us, that we are going to bless each other, and that many around us are going to notice. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to release a spiritual tsunami in your life.

You may not know this but this is a ‘special’ Sunday coming our way. It is one of two Sundays each year that receive this designation. It is called – “Low Sunday” and the other “Low Sunday” is the Sunday after Christmas Sunday. It is so named because, traditionally, the number of people attending church services is “low” compared to the previous Sunday. Therefore, there isn’t as much ‘energy’ and preachers dust-off an old sermon and nobody seems to notice. I wonder if this will occur this Sunday?? I guess you will have to show-up to find out.

A few days ago, God directed my attention to a verse or two that highlight the benefits of gathering for corporate worship. God’s word says: “Next, you’ll come to Gibeah of God, where there’s a Philistine garrison. As you approach the town, you’ll run into a bunch of prophets coming down from the shrine (worship service), playing harps and tambourines, flutes and drums (having joyful praises). And they’ll be prophesying (proclaiming their faith). Before you know it, the Spirit of GOD will come on you and you’ll be prophesying (proclaiming your faith) right along with them. And you’ll be transformed. You’ll be a new person.!”  1 Samuel 10:5-6 The Message. There is something transformative about worshipping God with fellow-believers. I believe that God likes to “show-off” a little when his people are together.

I suppose that is why we are instructed: Let’s see how inventive (creative) we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshipping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching. – Hebrews 10:24-25 The Message. Maybe if we allowed our ‘inventiveness’ – our creativity – to be released and exercised….who knows, maybe we could eliminate “Low Sunday”.

Have a great weekend – be blessed – get excited – be transformed!
