A Church with a Heart for our Community

August 27th Tuesday

Greetings to you in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! If “rainy days and Mondays get me down”…I guess that an extra dose of praise and thanksgiving to the Father who created this day must be needed. He did tell us to give thanks in all circumstances! and there is something significant about late summer rain…it is a signal to the “harvesters” to get ready for there is work to do! I trust that you had a good weekend with many blessings and time to rest-recharge. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to surround you with that peace that is beyond explanation and joy that is beyond expression.

Yesterday was our Monday prayer gathering and one of our pastors shared an insight that he received reading Luke 1:11-18. It was the story of Zechariah being told by the angel Gabriel that his wife, Elizabeth, was to have a child-a son. e responded to the news with incredulity and disbelief…they were old people now. They had been childless and had no doubt prayed for a long time for children but with advancing years…they stopped praying and perhaps even stopped believing, losing a measure of faith. Zechariah was still going through the motions but I wonder how much joy and hope he had. Of course, you know the rest of the story…Elizabeth did have a son John the Baptizer, who prepared the way for the ministry of his cousin – Jesus.

The point was for our Monday prayer gathering, who have been praying for a revival or an awakening or something…for over twelve years now. A few who started the prayer journey with us have left…maybe like Zechariah they lost their belief that God was going to answer. It has been a challenging commitment to keep…week after week gathering, praying, praising, and not experiencing what we so desperately believe God wants to do in our city. Sometimes I think that like Zechariah – God stills our tongue and we can scarce talk with hope abouta visitation from God. The angel, Gabriel, made it clear to Zechariah…and I believe that Holy Spirit has made it clear to us…this thing will come true at the proper time.

And the point is for all who are trusting God and serving Him and praying to Him –  DO NOT GIVE UP! God’s timing is impeccable and rarely makes sense to us…at least on the surface. What is that you have been praying about? – keep praying! Who is it that you have been praying for? – keep praying! Have you almost given up hope? Have you stopped praying? – get back in the game and get praying!

Be blessed!
