A Church with a Heart for our Community

August 16th Friday

Greetings to you in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Wow! another incredible morning in the Kingdom…late summer days are wonderful and our God is so good in ‘making’ these kind of days – Praise be to Him!  I trust that you have had a good week and are looking forward to the weekend with all of the adventures it will bring…and I pray that you have some expectancy about gathering with your Christian family  for worship. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to create a definable encounter with his Presence just for you!

This morning devotions brought two related points: first, a prayer that acknowledged that God often shows up – makes Himself known – through a very particular ‘sign’…a sweet, pleasant aroma; second, a collection of ‘signs’ that have appeared in worship gatherings. ‘Sings’ like a wind filling a closed sanctuary – oil appearing on the hands of worshippers – feathers falling from ? – a mixture of spontaneous tears and laughter … to name a few.

Personally, there have been times in private worship and corporate worship when  there was a sweet aroma filling the room…and there have been a few other signs as well. It seems that there are more documented ‘signs’ appearing as of late and I have wondered why. Perhaps we have become a little less observant of God;s presence in our ‘normality’, so God is trying to get our attention with something that is way out of our ordinary.

As I pondered….I like to ponder…God gently impressed upon me that I [and we] needed to pray: Lord, in these moments will You make me aware of your Presence through the ‘senses’ you gave me…I want to ‘see You’ with my eyes – I want to ‘hear You’ with my ears – I want to ‘taste You’ in my mouth – I want ‘to smell You’ with my nose – I want ‘to speak to You’ with my mouth in a manner I have not done before – I want to ‘feel You’ with my hands – and I want to ‘think of You’ with my mind – I want ‘to experience You’ in my spirit. Lord, would you allow me – skeptical, can’t fool me, doesn’t happen to me, doubting, unobservant …ME to know your Presence in a totally ‘new’ way. I simply want to tell You, that I believe this is possible…and I am ready! Lord, give me a day, a weekend of “wonders”!

Have a good weekend… be blessed… get ready for God to answer your prayers!
