Greetings to you in the name of the ‘soon and coming King’. Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a lovely morning in the Kingdom…a few snowflakes and a gentle breeze and a tinge of ‘coolness’ – everything in moderation! I trust that your week is going well and you have experienced His presence…even when you weren’t aware of it. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release healing and renewed health-strength to you…we have great needs – we have a great God – we will experience great responses from Him!
I was watching one of my favourite television shows the other night…Rizzoli & Isles. It is interesting to me how the writers gently insert spiritual topics that really make you think.
In the episode, Doctor Isles, who is a coroner, is working in a clinic for her mother when a child is brought in. The child is very ill and the tests indicate that she is dying and that there is nothing that the medical team can do. Doctor Isles says she will do what she can to make the child comfortable and before she begins, the family gathers around her and pray…thanking God for her and asking for a healing. Doctor Isles, of course, is a scientist with no practica faith or belief in prayers for healing…after all the child is dying and there is nothing to be done.
However the child begins to respond to treatment and her condition starts to improve against all the odds. The family, of course, understand it to be a miracle – an answer to prayer. Doctor Isles, of course, can not understand and has no ‘logical, scientific’ explanation for what is happening. The family is thanking God…Doctor Isles is standing there with a look of confusion…her logical, scientific mind is overwhelmed…it doesn’t make sense. We, the viewing audience, are left to decipher what it means.
And I think that is a beautiful lace to leave it…without someone giving us an answer that we must accept. I believe that is the way that Jesus taught. He laid out all the facts and truths and realities – then left it for us to decide and wrestle with. We don’t need someone else’s decisions…we need our own — or at least I do! “Work out your own salvation” – Philippians 2:12 – investigate, question, search…and then come to your own conclusions. Who is God to me? Who is Jesus Christ…liar, lunatic, or Lord?
I am grateful for television script writers who dare to challenge us to make up our own minds and to make our own decisions about matters that matter. At this point I agree with my good friend, Joshua: As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord… Joshua 24:15.
Have a great day…be blessed!
