Greetings to you in the name of the ‘Word made flesh’, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful November morning in the Kingdom! I trust that you had a good weekend and Monday – with many moments when you were aware of God’s presence and/or intervention in your life.Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to use you for His glory in the life of another…and that He would ‘speak’ to you in a way that you can understand and respond to.
Today my devotion begins with these words: “Each new morning is spread before us like a blank canvas to paint as we choose. And the beginning of each new morning provides us with a choice as to who will be guiding our brush that day. Will it be our egocentric selves or our loving God?” As I read that a few times, I was drawn to a verse or two from scripture: At each and every sunrise you will hear my voice as I prepare my sacrifice of prayer to you. Every morning I lay out the pieces of my life on the altar and wait for your fire to fall upon my heart…But I know that you will welcome me into your house, for I am covered by your covenant of mercy and love. So I come to your sanctuary with deepest awe to bow in worship and adore you. Psalm 5:3,7 TPT.
I try to start each morning with a positive attitude…even when I have had a bad night or my body is aching or my mind is focused on the demands of the day that I am aware of or the unknown parts of what is known. In reference to the morning devotion…I am aware that if start to paint on the day’s canvas without getting my focus right, my egocentric self is going to choose the sombre colours…black, grey, brown, and all their shades…but my loving God has a colourful palette of blue, green, yellow, red, and all their shades that He would have me use.
I am not saying that everything is always bright and beautiful…because it isn’t. However He knows how to add shades of bright colour into the darker colours and bring a perspective that takes our breath away. He simply needs me to choose to believe in Him and his purposes. This morning I sing a little…”I have decided to follow Jesus! – My Lord knows the way through the wilderness of this day – and, He’s got the whole world in His hands – Jesus loves me, this I know” I believe it is going to be a good day!
Shalom!
