A Church with a Heart for our Community

October 28th Friday

Greetings to you in the name of “the Good Shepherd”, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! An interesting morning in the Kingdom…and I think when we can see through the early morning fog that there is a grand day waiting for us. I trust that you have had a fine week as you walked with God…I pray that you had moments of revelation and blessing. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to use you this weekend for His glory and to display His grace.

Here it is…my favourite day – New Release Friday – and there were no inspirational ‘cd’s’ for me to get excited about, although on the ‘country’ side there was a good one. However, I think God knew what was going to happen so He sent me some good “words” through a few quotes. I am sure by now that you know that is exciting to me as well.

Last Sunday I suggested that a verse of Scripture we needed to keep close to us was Isaiah 55:8-9 … His ways and His thoughts are not anything like ours – to paraphrase. So this morning in my devotions the writer stated: “Our logic is not consistent with His – and He isn’t going to change” – Bill Johnson. i took that as an affirmation! Now added to this was: “This world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel” – Horace Walpole. Next came a challenging thought that seems to connect these: “In order to exchange a shallow religion for a deeper faith, we need to return to the beautiful journey of searching for the heart of God, of seeing through his eyes” – Brandon Hatmaker, A Mile Wide.

Then came a rather evocative statement: “Most of us want to be better followers of Christ than we are. Growing in Christ is a lifelong endeavor. It’s a series of exchanges in which we surrender something of ourselves and replace it with something of Christ…’There are some things you can’t be taught by hearing. Some things you have to feel for yourself’ … Discipleship is a commitment to a lifelong journey of discovering the heart of Christ…” – Brandon Hatmaker, A Mile Wide.

I haven’t totally figured out what God is trying to communicate to me, so I will carry these words with and like a melody in my mind, I will let them slow-dance through my thoughts.

Have a great weekend – be blessed!
