Greetings to you in the name of the One who believes in us…and releases life to us, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! A beautiful fall morning as God continues to unfold the potential of a new season. It is times like this that reveals the creativity of our God. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to show you a new dimension of His character through the people and things around you.
This is National-Prayer-Weekend in the United Kingdom and there are many churches and groups involved. It is encouraging to be made aware of what is going on in the church-family worldwide. Surveys done in the UK indicate that 1 in 6 people pray daily and 1 in 5 people believe in the power of prayer…and the most interesting aspect of those results are that that represents more people than actually attend church. I am supposing that the results for Canada would not be far from those in the UK.
I was scanning their webpage , which was very interesting, and there was a catch-phrase that ‘caught’ my attention. So much so that I thought I wanted to use it because it captures a principle that I agree with: We believe that local people praying for their community can help transform the nation. One life, one street, one community at a time. I suppose that is the underlying, unofficial statement of belief that has fuelled the prayer groups that I am part of.
I am thanking God this morning for reminding me that corporate intercessory prayer affirms: our relationship with God, who is in control and our partnership with fellow-believers from different faith groups. I know of no other gathering that has the power and authority and potential that the church on its knees has. When the church gathers to pray and seek God’s face – He hears and responds and communicates in powerful ways.
“When you are joined with me (Jesus is speaking) and I with you, the relationship intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant.” John 15:7 The Message.
Have a great day – be blessed!
