Greetings to you in the name of the One who longs to share your life with all of its ups and downs, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful morning in the Kingdom…the last weekend of April…sunshine, cool breezes, and the landscape beginning to show green. I trust you have had a good week and are excited about the weekend and all that you have planned. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to release a special measure of healing and restoration to your body, mind, and soul.
“Bless me, o Lord, bless me indeed!” or “Bless me God…a lot!” is the prayer of a man called, Jabez. In 1 Chronicles 4:10, this man becomes on of the only people in the Bible to boldly ask God for ‘blessing’…and according to the Bible – “And God granted him that which he requested.” On the surface it seems out of place and selfish and aggressive and a few other words we could think of…and yet Jabez was simply asking God to do what God wanted to do in his life – to respond to one of His children from out of His abundance.
Oddly enough when we get beyond our first response and think more deeply…we who pray the Lord’s Prayer do the same thing…without realizing it, I’m sure. We pray – “Give me this day, my daily bread” and as we do so we are simply asking God to “bless us” with what we need to make it through another day. Now where does the ‘daily bread’ come from – the abundance of God!
What is it that you “need” today – a friend, healing for you body, peace for your mind, guidance as you make decisions, a kind word, a little encouragement, an awareness of God’s presence? “Oh God, You who have so much to give, would you please bless me – provide for my needs, today? … God, in this moment, in this world – You are the one reality that I will believe and trust in. Please God, I want Your daily blessing!”
May God be with you this weekend!
